Grupo Gtd is a company composed of five business units that has had a presence in the telecommunications market for 35 years. Since its inception, it has focused on the provision of high quality, reliable technical solutions and services. It also stands out because of the close relationships that it establishes with its clients, which allow it to agilely and promptly address any need that might emerge.
Its portfolio of products and services is oriented towards large companies and corporations, small businesses, and government institutions. Since 2006, it has broadened the scope of its work through the integration of residential services such as telephony, broadband, and digital TV through Gtd Manquehue.
In 2010, Grupo Gtd expanded its services in the residential market in cities and towns between Concepción and Coyhaique through Telefónica del Sur, providing Interactive TV, IPTV, Internet, and telephony services.
Grupo Gtd companies have been characterized by their high level of innovation. For example, we were pioneers in fiber optic networks and the implementation of FTTH, ADSL broadband, and IPv6 services, among others. In 2011, the holding again expanded its portfolio of services, entering the mobile telephony world as the first Virtual Mobile Operator (VMO) in Chile with its service Gtd Móvil.
In 2012, Grupo Gtd took yet another new step in its development, approaching the international market for the first time in its history through the acquisition of the Colombian firm Flywan, which focuses on business sector telecommunications services.
The company celebrated important milestones in 2015 as well. In April, a new fiber optic network was inaugurated in southern Chile that includes over 350 kilometers of underwater routes that provide support for the existing infrastructure and telecommunications services in the territory between Puerto Montt and Coyhaique.
Also during 2015, thanks to its ongoing efforts to ensure connectivity in extreme areas and the launch of Fibra Austral 2, Grupo Gtd received the “Outstanding Company of 2015” award that is granted by the Chilean Manufacturers’ Association (SOFOFA). Grupo Gtd was the first telecommunications firm to receive this honor.
Finally, the company is taking a new step towards the internationalization of its operations. Through an association with Grupo Romero, one of Peru’s most important financial groups, it has acquired the majority of the shares of Gtd Wigo, a leading firm in Wi-Fi services that handles over 250,000 users per month through the provision of corporate Internet services and free Wi-Fi in Lima.
